The history of basketball
James Naismith was the inventor of basketball. He was born in 1861. He wanted to invent a game for students to play indoors. The first game played was with a soccer ball and a peach basket. Their are 13 rules for playing basketball. The rules are:
2.The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never fist.
3.A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot.
4.The ball must be held in or between hands.
5.No pushing, striking, holding, shouldering or tripping in any way of an opponent.
7. If either side makes 3 consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the opponent.
8.Goal shall be made when the ball is thrown from the ground into the basket When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be played by the first person touching it.
10. The umpire shall be the judge of he men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when 3 consecutive fouls have been made.
11.The referee shall be the judge of the ball and decided when it is in playing in bounds, to which side belongs and keep the time.
